Barber Ship Management will use their newly upgraded BASSnet procurement system to send and receive transactions electronically via MTS to their suppliers. The solution from MTS also supports Barbers business processes with their suppliers and helps them to improve the quality of their product data.
Barber will implement the MTS solution in steps, but on an ongoing basis expand this to include all their 160 vessels and all their main suppliers.
The process of implementing the e-business solution from MTS is scheduled to start in August 2006.
Knut Persson, General Manager Purchasing, Barber Ship Management, says: "A long yearned for step into the e-commerce environment is at our threshold. After being a pioneer, at least in theory and ideas, but still awaiting a coordinated internal process on integrated systems, it’s about time we get started. For us, MTS is considered as the best choice, not only with today’s functionality. We really look forward to the added values their future releases will bring about."
John Inge Røtting, Sales Director in MTS, says: "Securing one of the largest ship managers in the world as our client is very important for MTS and we see it as a proof that the market understand that a fully integrated solutions - what we call 2. generation e-commerce - is the way forward."
